Charu's Yoga Class

Welcome

About

After spending over a decade in the corporate world, I wanted to pursue something more meaningful in life. Having practised for 4 years, I finally took the plunge and certified myself as a Full Time Hatha Yoga teacher. Teaching yoga has made me feel more fulfilled and given me a sense of purpose while helping me to positively channel my energies. Yoga brought me peace, reduced my mental stress and made me feel super fit and confident about my body. It makes you more aware, more productive & sharp, and more balanced. Not only does it transform the way you think, it helps cure health issues like spondylitis and lower back pain, something I suffered due to long working hours at a desk. I now teach corporates, 1 breath at a time. Yoga changed my life, and it can change yours too.

How it works

It's simple, we teach yoga. To people who need it the most- corporates, working professionals, senior citizens and students. We teach you to calm the mind, to de-stress, to get focus, to stay agile and fit, to be mindful, to centre yourself and to get in touch with your most important tool, your breath. You will learn to accept and love your body, love your flaws, love your growth (no matter how slow it is) and to love yourself.

Corporate classes

If there's anyone in today's world who needs yoga, it is corporates. Having been one myself for more than a decade, yoga has immensely changed my health for the better. We urge People Teams to try workshops for their employees, your employees will bless you. Book us for a minimum 2 weeks or maximum of 4 weeks, we'll come to your office and teach your employees. From breathing exercises, relieving back pain issues, stress management, movements that calm the mind to increase productivity. Watch them talk about feeling amazing, being less stressed and feeling more productive. Trust us, it works.

FAQs

I am not flexible enough to do yoga. Can I do it?

You don't need to be flexible to practice yoga. You practise yoga to improve your flexibility.

How does yoga work?

Yoga works by coordinating your body, mind and breath and bringing them together as 1 unit. The body becomes healthier, the mind calmer and the breath, in steady control.

Do you teach kids, specially abled people and pregnant women?

All these require special expertise. It is best to consult an expert yoga teacher who teaches postures that cater to the specific requirements of the students.

Do you take trial classes?

Yes, we do. They are chargeable. Write to us to know more.

Can I eat before a yoga class?

No. You need to have a meal 1.5 hours - 2 hours before your class. If you feel hungry often, a small snack like nuts or a fruit is allowed 30 min -40 min before a class. The body is often twisted and turned during practice and these movements might bring your food back up. Not a pleasant feeling.

What do I need to learn yoga?

All you need is your body, mind, breath and a good mat. Wear comfortable clothes. Bring a towel to keep yourself dry and a bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated.

What does practising yoga feel like?

Yoga is an ancient wholesome science of living. It is based on 8 limbs or ashtanga (written by Patanjali). One of these 8 limbs or anga is called Asana or Posture. These postures will bring your body, mind and breath together in a rhythmic form and bring your focus inward. As you begin to focus inward, you will feel more mindful, aware, in control and calm about yourself and your daily movements. Yoga brings about a transformation to your internal health. You will feel more balanced and blissful and thus, happier as you keep practising.

How much time does it take to learn yoga?

There is no time limit. Each person's body is extremely unique. Yoga does not judge how far you can bend or how tightly can you twist, it respects your body the way it is. Hence, each person takes a different amount of time to learn. The key here is consistency. Practice, practice and some practice. There is no competition. It is your own journey. Don't forget to smile and have fun along the way!

Is it actually good for working professionals?

It is the best!! Corporates today spend maximum of their time at work. With increasing pressure to perform and do well, 1 hour of class will do wonders for your company's employees. They will feel fresh, be more productive, feel healthier and less stressed. From back pains to constant tiredness, 1 hour on the mat solves it all.

What time of the day should I practice yoga?

Ideally, early morning to start your day. If that is not possible because your schedule and lifestyle, anytime before meals or before your go to sleep also works. It is important not to eat before you practice. Practising postures twists and bends your abdomen, you will feel very uncomfortable.

Showing up for Charu’s class is an act of self-love. It’s not about fancy, instagrammable end-results (they do come when they come, but as a collateral benefit). It’s more about playing on the mat and embracing your whole self, feeling better physically, mentally and emotionally. She knows who has space to go further in an asana or what minor alteration will make a huge difference to how a particular student experiences a stance. Wherever you are in your practice, beginner or advanced, regular or sporadic, just show up – Charu will meet you there.

I think taking the decision to join Charu’s yoga was one of the best decisions of 2023 for me. She simplifies the practice and explains the basics in a way that the practice becomes fun and you enjoy the class. I know a lot more about my body after practicing with Charu! Above all, she’s a beautiful human and teaches only what she knows from her experience which is amazing and authentic!

“I call Charu a “MAGICIAN”. I have been Charu’s most irregular student, but the wonders Charu has done on me (my body) with my irregularity in practice is nothing less of magic!!! If the most irregular student can turn into regular practitioner in just One and half year of practicing with Charu… Then this is Truly “Magic”

Charuta is an excellent instructor. Her manner of teaching relaxes you, she motivates you to perfect each step precisely. Her patience and perseverance to see you do better is commendable!. What I also loved about learning from her, is that she sends feedback of where exactly you need to improve for each pose she has taught you. I'm so happy to have learnt from her!! She focuses on your problem areas and teach you poses for those problems. I have noticed a great amount of improvement after following her instructions.

Charu's classes have been an incredible breath of fresh air. She takes the time to explain each Asan, how to get there, which parts of the body it leverages and most importantly how every body is different. Here, I am learning to appreciate my body with its flexibilities AND limitations, while mindfully working to improve each day. Her attention to each student, despite the classes being virtual, is also commendable. It isn't uncommon for her to track each student's 'Before' and 'After' - this is a huge motivating factor, as we often don't realise our progress until we see the comparison. From being the person that forced myself to exercise, I now end up looking forward to Charu's classes, even at 6 am on Monday mornings! :)

I have been to several yoga classes in the past, but never felt connected with my practice. It was just another workout. For me, Charu's class has been a beautiful experience. She helps us focus on our practice in a very mindful and grounded manner. There is no sense of competition or judgement. She helps us progress at our own pace. In her words "It comes, it all comes". Thank you for sharing your practice with me Charu 💖

Training with Charu has been a wonderful, almost unbelievable experience. She will make you want to try harder, but also feel good about even small wins. Need not mention the smallest of details she remembers about each student, so she can tell them what and how to exactly work on. This is a teacher who doesn't just tell you to do an Asana better, but also HOW to do it better, like no one else.

To sum up experience with Charu’s yoga - It has been excellent so far. Charu is a very good teacher and is extremely patient with all her students. Although it’s group class that I’m part of, each of us gets individual attention and corrections based on our health and needs. I started yoga for the first time with Charu and was very sceptical of how zoom classes would help me but it’s been going really well, to an extent that I practice 5 days a week. It’s helped me tremendously with my postpartum aches, stiffness and pain. I love it and highly recommend her classes.

The classes are fun and you learn something in every session. One of the best things about the classes (out of 100 others) is, Charu makes notes of your progress and shares them with you. It’s been a month since I enrolled and I already see the difference. People presume yoga will make you flexible and that is a light exercise. That is not all true. Sessions with Charu have made me realise that while yoga helps with mobility, it also makes you strong (hello! Arm strength) 😊 😊 Charu guides you through poses and pushes you to do better.

Your yoga classes are a great start to my day! I really enjoy them. I never thought yoga could make me sweat so much! The other great thing about you is that you keep pushing us to try harder but you never judge anyone for not being able to do an asana. Through your classes I've learnt to respect my body, have some patience and become a bit calmer. Thank you!
Meha Jadhav, Research scholar (PhD)
I joined Charu’s class to experiment with yoga. I wasn’t sure if it was my thing. It’s now been 2.5 years and I’ve decided to make yoga a way of life! Charu’s instructions are so spot on. She observes every student’s progress carefully and guides us accordingly. I have grown stronger and feel better than I’ve ever felt. I now have the confidence to try more advanced asanas and highly recommend Charu’s class to anyone who wants to practice yoga.
